Example 1: Personal Letter - Standard Order - One hat per paragraph in sequence
Dear Sarah,
⚪ WHITE HAT (Facts): Hey! How are you doing? I hope you're having a great time at university! I'm writing to tell you about my amazing trip to Japan last week. We flew to Tokyo on March 10th and stayed for 5 days. We visited temples, tried lots of different food, and went shopping in Harajuku. I took hundreds of photos and bought so many souvenirs!
🔴 RED HAT (Feelings): I was so excited I couldn't sleep the night before we left! The whole trip was absolutely incredible and I'm still buzzing from the experience. I felt so happy and grateful that my parents surprised me with the tickets for my birthday. I wish you could have been there with me - we would have had such an amazing time together!
⚫️ BLACK HAT (Challenges): The flight was really long (12 hours!) and I was worried about the language barrier at first. I also got lost a few times in the subway system, and the jet lag was pretty rough. Plus, I spent way too much money on shopping - my bank account is crying!
🟡 YELLOW HAT (Positive aspects): Tokyo is absolutely amazing! The city is so busy and exciting, and the trains are incredibly efficient. The food was delicious - sushi, ramen, and amazing street snacks. The temples and gardens were so peaceful and beautiful, especially in the morning. The technology there is incredible - even the toilets have heated seats and music!
🔵 BLUE HAT (Practical details): I'm already saving up for another trip next year, and I'm thinking we should plan something together! I have to go now because I'm meeting my cousin for dinner, but I'll write back soon. I brought you some really cool souvenirs that I'll give you when I see you next week.
🟢 GREEN HAT (Creative ideas): Maybe we could plan a trip together next year! I have so many ideas for places we could visit - Kyoto, Osaka, or even a different country. I also learned some basic Japanese phrases that I want to practice with you!
Write back soon and tell me all about university life!
Love,
Ming

My First Week at University - What I Learned
Posted by Ming on September 15, 2024
⚪🔴 WHITE + RED HAT (Facts + Feelings): Hey everyone! So I've just finished my first week at university, and wow - what a rollercoaster it's been! I thought I'd share my experience in case any of you are starting university soon. I moved into my dorm on September 8th, and I've already met so many amazing people from different countries. I'm feeling excited, nervous, and overwhelmed all at the same time!
⚫️🟡 BLACK + YELLOW HAT (Challenges + Benefits): Okay, so it's not all perfect. The workload is intense - I have so much reading to do, and the assignments are much more complex than anything I did in high school. Living away from home is harder than I thought, and I miss my family and my own room! But the freedom is amazing - no more school uniforms, no more strict schedules. The campus is huge and beautiful, and the professors treat us like adults and encourage us to think critically.
🔵🟢 BLUE + GREEN HAT (Practical + Creative Solutions): I'm learning to manage my time better and I've joined three clubs already - it's the best way to meet people! I'm also learning to cook because the dorm food is... well, let's just say it's an adventure. I have some creative ideas for study groups and maybe even starting a cooking club for international students like me!
Overall, I'm really excited about this new chapter in my life. It's challenging but also incredibly rewarding. I can't wait to see what the rest of the semester brings!
What about you? Are you in university? What was your first week like? Let me know in the comments!

⚪🔴⚫️ WHITE + RED + BLACK HAT (Facts + Feelings + Challenges): Just finished my first half marathon! 🏃♀️💪 I can't believe I actually did it! My legs are killing me but I feel so proud of myself! Six months ago, I couldn't even run for 5 minutes without getting out of breath. I was so unfit and unhealthy, and I wanted to give up so many times during training. It was really hard at first, but I kept pushing myself!
🟡🔵🟢 YELLOW + BLUE + GREEN HAT (Benefits + Practical + Creative Solutions): Today was the big day, and I'm so happy I didn't quit! The atmosphere was amazing - all these people cheering us on, and I made some great friends along the way. The feeling when I crossed the finish line was incredible! I trained every day, followed a proper schedule, and even joined a running group. If you're thinking about starting something new but you're scared, just do it! You'll surprise yourself with what you can achieve. 💪✨

Personal reflection and daily experiences
Example 4: Diary Entry - Different Hat Combination - Red+White+Yellow (what could have been), then Black+Blue+Green
Dear Diary,
🔴⚪🟡 RED + WHITE + YELLOW HAT (Feelings + Facts + What could have been): Today was such a weird day! I don't even know where to start. So much happened, and I'm still processing everything. This morning, I was running late for school (as usual), and I missed my bus. I was so stressed because I had a big presentation today. But then this really nice lady offered me a ride to school! We had a great conversation, and she told me about her daughter studying abroad. This should have been just another ordinary school day, but it turned into something much more meaningful.
⚫️🔵🟢 BLACK + BLUE + GREEN HAT (Problems + Practical + Creative Solutions): But then I got home and found out that my grandmother is sick. My mom was really worried, and I could see how stressed she was. It made me think about how important family is. I called my grandmother tonight, and we talked for a long time. I'm going to try to be more grateful for what I have and not take things for granted. Maybe I can visit her more often or help my mom with household chores to reduce her stress.
I'm feeling a bit emotional tonight, but also hopeful. Tomorrow is a new day, and I'm going to make the most of it!
Goodnight,
Ming
